As time permits, we also work on landscaping around both St. Gabriel House and the rectory. Our efforts over the past 2 years include weeding and spreading wood chips in and around both houses and St. Gabriel House patio, removing weeds and some plants from slope below St. Gabriel House, constructing a front porch step for St. Gabriel House, planting and pruning trees above the patio, cleaning up the flower beds between the lawn and lower church parking lot, and creating a wood chip walking path between the garden and patio. Over the past year the parish also has hired a crew to mow and edge all lawns and take over some of the landscape maintenance. Ideas for 2026 include: (1) building steps into the steep gravel path connecting the church lower parking lot to St. Gabriel House, (2) installing two permanent benches on the edge of the front lawn of St. Gabriel House, and (3) continuing to beautify the yards with low-maintenance plantings.
